Signal will show a delivery status for sent Signal messages and sent insecure SMS messages. You can disable delivery reports for SMS messages through Signal > Settings > SMS and MMS > SMS delivery reports. To see more details long-press on a message bubble and select Info from the header options.
One check mark
One check mark in your message bubble indicates that your Signal message has been sent to our servers or your insecure SMS was sent to your provider. If you see this, there is no issue with your phone.
Two check marks
Two check marks in your message bubble indicate that the Signal message or insecure SMS has been delivered to your contact's device. This does not indicate the message was read. Your contact will only get this message if their phone is online.
Two blue check marks
Two blue check marks in your message bubble indicate that the Signal message was read. Messages are marked as read if both you and your contact have read receipts enabled.
What can I do if my Signal message was not delivered?
- You can wait until your contact has an internet connection and Signal can connect to the internet.
- You can re-type your message and long-press the send button to send it as an insecure SMS/MMS. If your contact uninstalled Signal, ask them to unregister their number.
- Make sure your contact has all the permissions enabled for iOS and has gone through this checklist for Android.
