Like all Signal messages, group voice and group video calls are private too. You will be prompted to grant the Camera and Microphone permissions the first time you make or receive a Signal call.
Call link features
- Create a call link for other people with Signal to join.
- The creator of a call link can choose approval settings for who can join the call.
- The same link can be used for multiple calls.
- The creator of a link can also delete it at any time.
- Links expire if they’ve been unused for 90 days.
- Admins / call creator can choose approval settings
Create a call link
- Go to the Calls tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Select Create a Call link.
- Optional: name the call link.
- Optional: choose to Require admin approval.
- Share the call link.
- Copy link.
- Share link via Signal to an existing chat.
- Select DONE.
Call link creator permissions
- If “Require admin approval" is selected
- The first time anyone joins the call, they must be “approved”. While waiting, they will not receive anyone else’s audio or video, nor will others see their audio and video.
- If the creator “denies” someone’s request to join the call twice, they are “blocked” for the remainder of the call.
- Anyone who has previously been approved to join the call, or a previous call on the same call link, will be automatically approved the next time they request to join, unless they are later “removed” from the call.
- If “Require admin approval” is not selected
- Anybody can join the call. Anyone removed or blocked during the call will not be able to rejoin for the duration of the call..
Edit a call link
- Only the creator of the link may edit it.
- Go to the Calls tab at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap or select "Signal call" or the existing call name
- To change the call name
- Tap or select Add call name or Edit call name.
- Edit text.
- Choose Save.
- To change approval
- Tap or select Approve all members.
- Change setting to On/Off. This applies automatically.
Join a call link

Update to the latest version of Signal and ensure you can send or receive messages (in Note to Self).
- Android 7.21.5 or later
- iOS 7.34.0 or later
- Desktop 7.30.0 or later
- Tap the call link.
- Opening a call link in a browser does not tell the Signal organization which call you are trying to join.
- If the call creator has a setting to Require admin approval, you will wait until you are approved to join.
- While waiting, you will not receive anyone else’s audio or video, and they will not see your audio and video.
What is shared when joining a call link
- Your profile name and profile photo will be shared with everyone else on the call, including people who join the call after you.
- If you have “Who can see my phone number” set to “Everyone”, they will also learn your phone number.
Remove or block a call participant
- Only the creator of the link may remove or block participants
- The creator of the link must be in the call
- The creator of the call link can remove a person which allows the person to rejoin the call.
- Tap on the screen to reveal the call controls.
- Swipe up on the call controls
- Tap the - button next to the person you wish to remove from the call
- Tap Remove
- The creator of a call link can block a person which prevents them from rejoining as long as the call is ongoing.
- Tap on the screen to reveal the call controls.
- Swipe up on the call controls.
- Tap the - button next to the person you wish to block from the call.
- Tap Block from call.
Delete a call link
- Go to the Calls tab.
- Select the Signal Call.
- Select Delete call link.
- Confirm Delete.
- Once deleted, no one can join the call.
- NOTE: existing calls will be on going, but no one else can join.
