Notification Profiles let you control how, when, and from whom you receive notifications in Signal Desktop and Android. Instead of one fixed notification setting for every situation, you can create multiple profiles tailored to different parts of your day, for example a "Work" profile, a "Sleep" profile, or anything else that fits your routine.
Where do I find this setting?
Go to Settings > Notifications, then look for the Notification Profiles section. From there you can view and adjust your existing profiles or create a new one.
How do I create a new profile?
When setting up a profile, you can:
- Choose which people or groups are allowed to send you notifications while that profile is active.
- Always allow calls, regardless of your other settings in that profile.
- Always allow mentions, regardless of your other settings in that profile.
- Optionally add a schedule (see below) so the profile turns on and off automatically.
Can I turn a profile on manually, or does it need a schedule?
Both options are supported. You can switch a profile on or off manually whenever you like, or set up a schedule so it activates automatically, for example, only on weekends, only on weekdays, or during a specific block of time each day. The schedule is optional; you can also leave a profile as something you toggle manually.
How do I tell if a profile is currently active?
When a Notification Profile is turned on, you'll see it displayed at the top of your chat list with a purple icon, along with quick-access settings so you can check or adjust it without digging back into the full Settings menu.
Will my Notification Profiles sync across all my devices?
That's up to you. When setting this up, you can choose whether to sync your Notification Profiles across your devices. If you turn this on, enabling or disabling a profile on one device will also enable or disable it on your other devices; if you leave it off, each device manages its own profile state independently.
Is this available on iOS too?
Notification profiles are not available on iOS at this time.
